Real Estate Excise Tax often times referred to as “REET,” is the tax on the sale of real estate, which is typically paid by the seller of the property.

This year there has been new changes to the Washington State Real Estate Excise Tax laws. Effective January 1st, 2020 Washington State now has a graduated excise tax based on the home’s selling price.. With the new changes, unless your selling price is above 2.3 million dollars, you will actually be paying less excise tax than previously.
