Oh no! The first day of summer break!!! Such a mixed bag of emotions…the kids are thrilled and honestly so are the parents, especially first thing in the next morning when you do not have to wake said children up repeatedly. This revelation allows a more relaxed morning – no school lunches to throw together, musical instruments to grab on the way out the door, and for my husband the ability to catch an earlier bus at the Park and Ride or the earlier Sounder train. I was able to start my morning with a quiet calm researching home matches for my clients with an unusual feeling of easing into the day this morning.
Being our first year in Edmonds after relocating across the country from Kennedy Space Center, Florida this school year seems to have flown by and now as any mom does I am wondering what the next weeks and couple of months will hold for my kids and I. As I was a teacher in Florida I know how quickly the “Summer Slide” can take hold I do not want my children (who are actually teenagers) to just hang out at home and play video games and watch tv, as I have let them today – the first full day of summer! In addition to next year’s school calendar in this week’s communication from ESD#15 (Edmonds School District) there was information about Math programs being offered this summer for students up to grade 10. Information for other Summer Programs through the school district can be found HERE. For more leisurely learning endeavors there are a plethora of fun activities to do through the Edmonds Rec Programs. You can browse the catalog online by clicking HERE. Some of the programs make me wish I was a kid again! Last year my youngest son, Matthew, who is now a teenager enjoyed the basketball clinics. The Frances Andersen Center is East of the Edmonds Sno-Isle Library on Main Street.
Once I know we have a plan to avoid the Summer Slide and have signed the kids up for a couple camps, I am looking forward to creating some memories as a family. I’ve been told that this is the most beautiful time of the year in the Great Northwest! So far it reminds me of winters in the Sunshine State. I am hoping to explore some great places around Puget Sound and maybe even take a day trip to the Olympic National Park.
We are looking forward to family and friends visiting this summer as well. A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being a tourist with my best friend from Florida as we explored Pioneer Square, Fremont, City Center, downtown Edmonds, and a trip to Bainbridge Island. My friend even joined me for setting up the broker’s open at one of our client’s home at 17017 Talbot Rd, a beautiful estate with gorgeous views of Puget Sound, and showed homes in Mill Creek, Bothell, Edmonds, and Arlington to some of my favorite clients.
Here are some photos of the impressive Mediteranian Home for Sale on Talbot Road in Edmonds. For additional information feel free to give me a call.
Many people like to move over Summer Break so that they can get their children settled into a new home prior to the start of the new school year. If you are paying for your new home with cash the amount of time needed for closing is minimal. If you are financing your home, your lender knows how much time he or she needs for the underwriter to process your home loan and close without requesting any extensions. Most loans can be processed within 30 – 45 days. With this competetive Seller’s Market, you definitely do not want to ask for an extension unless you absolutely have to. You know that sounds like a different blog topic! Being prepared to write your best offer without a need for extentsions! In the meantime if you would like information sooner, feel free to contact me so that I explain further. You can either call me at 425-971-8865 or fill out this form and let me know in the comments how I can be of service. If you need a referral for a great lender we can help you with that as well. I look forward to serving you soon and I hope your Summer Break is already off to a great start!
