Here’s our rehab project in the Green Lake area, a bit north of downtown Seattle. Green Lake is one of the first places people look for homes for sale in Seattle, for a bunch of reasons. It’s a short commute to downtown, the University of Washington, or South Lake Union—which is home to Amazon.com, UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, NBBJ, Group Health, Seattle Biomed, PEMCO, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and PATH.
If you have kids, check out the schools. Last week Green Lake Elementary School competed in the Battle of the Books competition, and out of 267 schoolscompeting, Green Lake won 2nd place! Eckstein Middle School has award-winning technology and music programs, including 5 orchestras and 3 jazz bands. Hamilton International School, nearby, also has a great jazz band. Roosevelt High School offers Latin, Spanish, Japanese, and French, and it’s the only school in Seattle that offers American Sign Language. Check here to see where your kids would go: http://www.seattleschools.org/admissions/registration/address_lookup_tool/
The neighborhood offers a great collection of restaurants, libraries, cultural activities, and funky little businesses, too. Best of all, it’s near Green Lake Park http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?id=307
Runners, bicyclists, boaters, inline skaters, dog walkers, and pretty much everybody else loves this lake. My mom used to take me there to roller skate when I was a kid. Remember roller skates? Wow, that must date me.
For all these reasons and more we chose to do a real estate investment project – remodel at 352 NE 52nd Street, in the Green Lake area of Seattle. This is our first rehab in this neighborhood, and it really is bigger than it looks. I’m sure you’ve heard that before, but really: 4 beds 2.5 baths 2400 sq ft. We’re tearing it all apart and creating something beautiful out of the mess. It’s great fun! Wait ’til you see how it turns out. More photos and details coming next week.
